The Mental Health Crisis in the US in Children is Getting Worse - Here's What You Can Do to Help Your Child

It’s no secret that the mental health crisis in the US in children is getting worse. Anxiety, depression, and confidence issues are on the rise among young people, and this has become an increasing serious concern for parents and caregivers. If you’re a parent it can be overwhelming trying to figure out what to do.

You probably didn't receive any instructions on how to be a good parent in school or from your parents when you were growing up. Our society does not equip parents with the right tools to raise healthy mentally developed children, let alone take care of themselves, and there are very few resources available to us.

Mind-body health and nutrition are areas where most doctors completely lack any knowledge, instead often prescribing drugs as a band-aid solution without solving the root problems, which are often based in the subconscious. Moreover, the subconscious mind, which is by far the most powerful part of our thoughts and behaviors, (accounting for 90%+ of our mind power) is largely ignored in regular therapy, which is why it can takes years to overcome a struggle and/or an issue.

Signs that your child may be struggling

You see, like adults, your kids have not-so-good days, scary dreams at night, and tough moments on a daily basis. Adults, by virtue of being adults and having fully developed brains, can be open about these problems, process them in their own way, and, hopefully, find a way to lessen the damage. Your kids just don't yet have the communication skills or brain development to process that -  so they must handle their stressors themselves most of the time. Your child might act out with different symptoms like moodiness, temper tantrums, abdominal pain, or refusing to answer you.

How our new Zenzy® sessions can help your child

By listening to Zenzy® sessions for kids, your children gain mental and emotional stability by addressing the subconscious mind. Sessions will improve their sense of being happy, confident, and positive, and help them manage stress. Even more importantly, they will improve your child's self-regulation, which will result in a happier mindset and a become a powerful tool they’ll be able to take into adulthood.

Here are some examples of the sessions that are currently on the app:

Have a Positive Attitude • Ages 8-12

In this Mindpower Session, your child will learn how to be positive when faced with tough situations and come out stronger than before. As children grow up and experience more and more challenges in life, it can be easy for them to develop a negative attitude.

Whether it is at home with family or at school with teachers and classmates, kids can feel like the victim of others’ actions. This session will empower them to remember that they can stay positive regardless.

Good Behavior and Focus at School • Ages 8-12

This Mindpower Session will help your child stay more focused and well-behaved at school by teaching them to be more self-aware of their own thoughts and feelings.

Your child will learn to pay attention to their thoughts and feelings without being overwhelmed or distracted by them, which in turn, will make it easier for them to focus at school and control their behavior with the guidance of their parents and teachers.

Throw Away Anxious Feelings • Ages 8-12

In this session, your child will leave their anxious feelings behind. Those negative feelings will be tossed away and your child will fill up their body with happy, brave, and positive feelings.

Many children experience emotions like fear and anxiousness that can be crippling to their development and well-being. After this session, your child will feel calmer, relaxed, and happy.

Here are 3 tips to help your child at home

1. You should always communicate with your child in a positive manner. The subconscious mind doesn't hear the "don'ts" - it ignores them. For example, if you want your child to stop hitting his/her sister for example, instead say "Be kind to your sister." or "Keep your hands and body to yourself."

2. Before bedtime, when they are getting tired, even if there are bedtime struggles, give them some words of encouragement about any challenges they face in their lives. For instance, “I know you'll do well on that test tomorrow.” or “I know if you keep practicing soccer, you're going to keep getting better.” Remember to always speak the positive desired result.

3. Whenever you tell your kids that you are proud of them also add that they should be proud of themselves too. This not only makes them feel that you respect them and see their worth, but also that they should value themselves as well.

All kids sessions can be found on the Home Page, on the app. Please email us with any suggestions for kids sessions! We will make as many of them as we can.
